Lower Presumpscot River approx. 1.5 miles above the former Smelt Hill
Dam. The riffles and rapids in these photos have been flooded and still
for nearly 300 years.
This section of the lower Presumpscot River is located just below the
Maine Turnpike connector between Exit 8 and Route 295 in Falmouth, Maine.
The level of the former Smelt Hill Dam impoundment can be seen along the
tree line of the river bank in the photo above.
